Ron Paul 2008 - Hope for America

What were your earliest musical influences.?
Butterey soul ballads, brecker brothers, tower of power, stevie wonder, quincy jones. My dads record collection.

Who was your first musical hero.?
I'd say stevie wonder, a lot for all the kool equipment he used.

When did you get into Djing.?
One of my best friends Michael elmenbeck was one of the early rave/club dj:es here in stockholm. Haning out with him, fooling around on the decks when him playing eventually filling in for his notorious double bookings.

When did you do your first production.?
My first release was in 97 but I remember writning songs on a small keyboard in my bed juming up and down as a kid. My father was/is a songwriter and was working in Stockholm London late 70ies and early 80ies.

Have you always been in the music industry or did you do another job.?
I went to university for a long time and did music on the side. I actually started doin a phd in media and communications. I had several side gigs. Was working in a studio/synt store for ages weekends and holidays. That’s how I satisfied my gear addiction. Living of music now for approx 4 years.

What was the first track that you had released.?
Missing you ft franck adahl on released for pleasure. Mats of raw fusion thinks it’s the best I ever did. Makes u wonder…

What was it that got you noticed.?
I don't know ;)

How would you describe your sound.?
I wish for it to be musical, I tend to do a bit different things. From some classical house stuff and some experimental stuff too. Still wanna keep it rough and true.

How has the last 12 months been for you.?
Its been lot of work both studio and dj:ing which is fun. Really had some great gigs and I feel really inspired for production work. Been writing on my album and it feels really nice so far.

Do you find it easy to remix a track – is there a particular element of the original track that you look for to expand on or do you simply go with what you feel.?
That really differs from time to time. Sometimes u know right from the start where u are taking it. Sometimes it takes forever. I usually try to keep something more that just the vocal or snippets of it. Sometimes the production is crap so u really cant.

Have you done any or plan to do any mix compilations?
I haven't done any but we'll c what happens ;) some ideas are in the pipeline but nothing set.

Are you doing much Djing at the moment.?
I'm djing a lot rite now.
Next weekend UK (Aberdeen). The I leave Tuesday for US. NYC (roots) and LA (bossanova). After that I do paris may 12th and back home in stockholm with Kevin hedge the 15th. Normally i dj outside Sweden anywhere 1-8 times a month. Not a lot in UK so come on eh!

What do you think to the Soulful House scene at the moment.?
I really hate all those tag lines to house but I understand what u mean how there is a need to differ your self your sound from stuff… so. But I do think the music I consider beein good is havin a bit of a resurgence. There is still a lot of crap getting a lot of attention but I think people are getting fed up with standard house stuff.

What labels/Producers are 'doing it' for you at the moment.?
I'd say deeply rooted records (dj deeps label) has some really interesting stuff lined up and it really did good on back to the raw. Six pianos gonna for sure rock some more floors when it comes out. One of the biggest tracks fro me now. Other producers that are on fire in my opinion. Manoo, Kerri Chandler, Alix Alvarez, Mr V and franck roger. Ame brings out some interesting stuff, jazzanova has a few things coming out that are dope.

Are there any projects your working on or have coming up you can tell us about?
Oh, there are a few. Still Waiting will finaly be released on MAW later this year. New one on Sonar Kollektiv called club possible. Some stuff that just are out crazypitch on Flygaric, you bless me on crash. Paper bag in wind (instrumental) There are some other stuff but I'm holding that for the album but I've recorded about 6 songs so far. Very happy with them.

Do you have your own studio.?
Yes I do. You can chek it on my webpage. www.audiobuff.se

Do you have any goals for the next 12 months.?
To release my album, go to cork ;)

Do you have a website where we can find out more about you and your music?
Again www.audiobuff.se keep cheking it. I try to update it at least once a week!

What are the currently big tunes in your box that are really working your dance floors?
Six pianos. Dub H, old man groin, Zanzibar, gwotet, paper bag in wind

Are there any DJ's that you look forward to playing alongside?
Playin at roots 4th may with louie vega & Kevin hedge will be fun. I really enjoy playing with dj deep. Also have fun to play with yannick from needs. Would be very nice to play with kerri chandler.

Can you recall a party you played at that was memorable (good or bad.!?)
Well there are a few. Really hard to decide.
