Tortured Soul - Another Lover - Dome Records

The follow up to my personal favourite Home to you drops with an awesome array of mixes from disco legends Dimitri from Paris and Tom Moulton along side house mixes from Master Kev and Tony Loreto. My first thought on this was can Tortured Soul do no wrong? It seems not! All the mixes are hot. Dimitri’s mix is a full on disco work out and for fans of this sound this certainly will not disappoint. Tom Moulton arranges the piece with skill and manages to give it a unique flavour.
Master Kev and Tony Loreto give it a 4 to the floor house treatment with smooth synths and bass lines. The tracks build very nicely and should get good reactions on the dance floor. The surprise from the bunch is from Tortured Soul’s own JKriv who gives it a nice twist with a broken beatish live drum work out taking the track in a different direction.
Tortured Soul do it again. A very strong package that makes me excited to hear the whole LP and anything else they may do in the future.

DJ Meme - Chanson Du Soleil 2009 (Pt. 1) - PlayMore Music

Just in time for the height of summer comes a timely re-release of DJ Meme - Chanson Du Soliel. This pack covers all bases with a 2009 sax-heavy remix from DJ Meme, a peak-time remix from Groove Invaderz, a lovely laidback beach house take from Seb Skalski, a deep/retro vibe from Andy Sant alongside some big room action from Durban's main man Shane D! Unquestionably Playmore's biggest release to date, this one has received national TV coverage in Brazil and Portugal and been licenced to several mix CD's including Stereo Sushi, Hed Kandi Disco Heaven and Time Italy.

Dave Horne & Leanne - Mellow Summer - Guess Records

Dave Horne is slowly establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with on the underground UK dance music scene. Initially making a name for himself as warm-up DJ for stars such as Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond and Paul Oakenfold at The Gallery @ Turnmills in London, and for the likes of Eric Prydz at Fabric in London. With this ever expanding and impressive CV in DJing, his productions are also rising up through the ranks. Signed to one of the World’s biggest Progressive House labels Baroque Records his first release ‘The Road to March’ (under his ‘DJH’ alias) was supported by a whole host of big names from Eric Prydz to the Thrillseekers. Dave’s more upbeat productions can be heard on labels such as Nu-Depth Recordings, Solaris and now Guess. His recent remix of Asymmetric Soul “Diamonde” on Guess saw global club and radio support so it was a natural progression with the Guess team to have him featured as an artist in his own right. The first of two signings to Guess, “Mellow Summer”, characterises his blend of progressive and trance perfectly, providing a melodic and atmospheric soundscape, driving bass lines and epic breakdowns. Not to overdo the remix statistics, Richard Earnshaw breaks out his deeper solo outfit of Sole Unity. Crisp production, swinging beats and bass and smooth musical elements resulting in a concoction which will no doubt attract Earnshaw and Spiritchaser fans alike.

Groove Victim – The Nothing E.P – Cyberjamz Records

A deep stomper of an E.P this one! Groove Victim AKA Jay Brown brings a taste of energetic deep house music in this 3 track E.P Calm before the storm has a light percussive feel and builds nicely through out. High strings and a sweet piano lead in to a smooth break down before this version builds once again. Nothing but beats does what it says on the tin only with more punch to the kick and some serious swinging hats. The havock mix blends the best elements of the 1st two versions and adds some great synths into the equation. I simply can’t wait to play the last version out on a good system.

Bah Samba – Live in the Summer – Favouritizm

The second release for this label and it certainly does not disappoint. Seven mixes in the package include versions from Andy Ward, DJ Meme, Super Phonics and Filsonik as well as the Bah Samba original. All mixes are great although the Andy Ward and Super Phonics mixes stood out for me. Andy brings a Dub and Sunshine Vocal mix whereas the Phonics give a real soul boy feel to the track influenced by the likes of Tom Browne’s Funkin’ for Jamaica. A good selection of mixes, something for most I feel.

Ralphi Rosario ft Shawn Christopher – Everybody Shake It – Blueplate Global Records

After a 10 year break from solo recording Ralphi is back with a bang!
Featuring the vocals from legendary Shawn Christopher Everybody shake it is a big room disco tinged stomper. There are 7 mixes in the package including remixes from Jay J. Dave Aude, DJ Paulo and Lego. For my taste Ralphi’s Funky House Mix steals the show with Jay J’s mix coming in a close second. Lego’s mix adds a saxophone giving it a jazzed up feel. Dave Aude’s mix will appeal to those into the harder house sounds and is slightly reminiscent of Lil Louis French Kiss only harder.

Fast Vision Soul - Babatundè - GOGO Music

Fast Vision Soul is 23 years old DJ Francesco Briganti from South Italy who started his career in 2004 and plays to date in various South Italian clubs and a very talented upcoming producer. After Fast Vision Soul boosted his studio in 2008, he discovered a strong passion, for influences of afro, deep, soulful and latin sound. Exactly this is what you can hear on this second release of him, after his 2008 success "Me vs The Music" Cyberjamz, which received positive feedback from the likes of Jimpster or Lars Behrenroth of Deeper Shades.
On this release label head Ralf Gum delivers a spanking interpretation of the tune using a heavy kick-drum and a percussion programming of highest order his mixes will work on every occasion. The Main Mix is a musical journey garnished with live saxophone and multiple layered keyboards, but even the Beat is more than just a tool. Babatundè’s mix of latin, soul and afro house makes this another very explosive GOGO Music release.

“Dancing With The Devil” The title track from the EP is a superb deep percussive track. Deep and slightly progressive this is a great track for a main room. Tapesh - Boya Chile EP - Defected Records

Now we're talking German scenester, Tapesh delivers his killer debut on Defected. Dropping from Dusseldorf this is an uber cool flute driven groover combined with his Boya Chile chant. A simple comparison "La Mezcla" meets "Debbie Downer" meets "Tropical Soundclash". T's Deep 72 Mix completely switches the package laying down some slick chord stabs that keep his chant afloat. This is not your standard Defected release but nevertheless we think it's the BOMB!!!

Gel Abril - Splees Of Yoruba - Defected Records

This EP has been doing some serious dance floor damage globally recently and believe me it's a sure fire winner. In "Spells Of Yoruba", Gel Abril cleverly uses vocal stabs, giving this beat driven number a killer groove. Meanwhile "Marir" provides a deep groove and swinging bass line that completely balances this dope EP...This is the business.

Peckos - Sensual Strawberry Soda - Lost My Dog

Peckos is back on Lost My Dog following his extremely well received debut ‘Belgian Nights EP’ and two remixes of Bernard Jones’ ‘Don’t You Wish’.  ‘Sensual Strawberry Soda’ by the young Belgian producer is a deep and funky workout with Chicago influenced beats, strings and a well placed female vocal snippet.  Remixes come from fellow Leuven-based producer Raoul Belmans, who is best known as one half of Swirl People, the Netherland’s Tommy Largo and another new Lost My Dog signing, Danny Stott.
