Hick Holder
2012/A Strange Delight
NRK

Nick Holder opens up his 2008 productions with this ace triple tracker that opts for an instrumental production on "2012", and a typically quirky jazz house/broken beat thang on "A Strange Delight". "2012" ploughs straight for the deep dancefloor root; functional beats, percussion and claps, spacey effects, delicate keys and a snaking arpergio riff make this track a hypnotic house nugget."A Strange Delight" sees Holder delving deep into his love of the broken beat, with some raw drums and a shuffling groove introducing a typically Holder-esque obscure jazz sample (we know what the sample is but we aint gonna broadcast it!) and off key strings, bigboy bass and moody organs. "A Strange Delight" will delight those who like to push the genre a little bit.

Nicole Moudaber Vs. Mel & Kim
Get Fresh
Nocturnal Groove
Next up on Nocturnal Groove is this brilliant electro style track sampling the 80’s classic 'Showing Out (Get Fresh For The Weekend)' by Mel & Kim who were undoubtedly one of the UK’s first dance act’s having major success in the UK Top 40 charts..  The sample is used just not featuring too heavily and adding a high energy and nostalgic element to the pounding electronic groove. This could prove to be a big hit for Nocturnal.. Don’t sleep on ‘Get Fresh’ – check it out now!!

DJ Floy
Over The Hills
Tri Circle Recordings

You gotta' grab a copy of this beauty from Tri Circle recordings, fresh sounding house music, a package full of solid mixes.! Check out the awesome 'Logan Dataspirit Mix', a sweet journey back to the London bassline sound, deep, heavy and will get the dance floor rollin'!! The 'Jordan Rivera Mix' has a neatly produced beats that made this mix stand out for me. Heavy drums scoop up the short stabs at layer up the track for the very groovy sounding chords that come in and add a full-on party flavour. Finally for me the 'Sambox Deep Mix' is a real house heads mix, the kind of track you would hear on a Soulfuric release, very smooth, nice basslineand chords done is a sophisticated style.

Dj Phenix
900Degrees/Razorll
Phenix Industries
‘900 Degrees’ sounds like the kind of track you would hear a DJ like Karizma play, a dark and atmospheric journey of beats and sounds that still give away an almost soulful sound and can fit along side vocal house. This is one of those tracks that can cross over to all different styles of dance and sound right. ‘Razorll’ is more for the ‘Tech Headz’! a very deep and pulsating track that pans from left to right all the way through with whisping sounds echoing beside doubled up beats and loads of filtered effects.

Oscar P feat Ama
You Are My House - Part 1
Open Bar Music

Oscar P’s ‘You Are My House’ is a classic sounding four four groove that is a very solid pumping vocal groove with an excellent Latin vocal and catchy piano line to really capture the listeners ears! It pumps along nicely with subtle strings and the lead vocals to break into a real Old Skool style track with the use of a classic house synth sound. (Think of Inner City’s good life..) This is perfect for you house jocks who want a track to get that dance floor really moving.!

Tommi White
Every Sunday
Sole Music
House music really is a global phenomena as it has touched the four corners of the Earth. Here Sole music showcase the excellent work of Tommi White who delivers this beautiful piece of soulful house all the way from Iceland. Seth Sharp is on vocal duties and is definitely a name to watch for the future, sounding very like one of Arnold Jarvis's finest moments. Already supported by Joey Negro, Aaron Ross, Louie Vega and Joe Clausell, the mix that does the biz for me is from label head Stevie ‘Sole’, and fantastic pounding mix that lays a good solid floor rocking bed for the excellent vocals.

Alex Dimitri feat. Dieghito
South Soul
Gotta' Keep Faith
In the “original mix” Dieghito plays all the instruments…alone! That’s maybe why you can hear the crowd turning crazy in the background. “Limo’s re-work” is still very jazzy but the artist added his touch: a crazy drum solo, followed by some acid sound coming straight out of his TB303. Gaty Lopez performed a very deep & funky “Rigadoon Remix”, with some “voodoo” percussions, filters and a lot of bass! The “Tommy Largo Remix” will definitely please the lounge DJ’s, with its really “chic” touch: vocal, sax and Dieghito’s piano takes you straight to one of these old and dark jazzbars. Finally, it closes the session with a very nice and smooth deep-house mix, prepared by Steve Paradise himself. Great job, guys.

Ralf Gum’s latest release “Kissing Strangers” is the perfect example of his  love for timeless and sophisticated music and to ensure this track has that timeless element he has teamed with Monique Bingham who’s beautiful voice has transformed so many records into classics that we’ll always go back too time and again..! Taken from Ralf’s forthcoming album “Uniting Music’” listen for yourself this is a massive track and currently riding high at No.1 in the Traxsource Download chart!

RedSoul & Andrea Love
Heat You Up, Melt You Down
Playmore
The (digital) debut release on Playmore Music comes from the man behind this great new label Dave ‘RedSoul’ Waring & Andrea Love. Heat You Up (Melt You Down), is a cover of the 1983 Shirley Lites classic, brilliantly re-sung by Chicago diva Andrea Love who’s best known as being the voice behind the worldwide smash 'Praise Cats - Shined On Me. Redsoul does the biz in fine style for this first release on Playmore, some quality mixes ranging from pounding beat driven to the more subtle and chilled, each working great with the uber classic vocals!!

Demarkus Lewis feat. Marissa Guzman
Get Yourself Together
Soulstar
Soulstar are proud to present the debute release from Texas main man Demarkus Lewis as he drops this wonderful vocal track sung by the beautiful voice of Marissa Guzman. Get Yourself Together comes in 4 mixes. Next to the Main Vocal, there are brilliant remixes by Genetix, DJ Lazz and the label headhonchos Harley & Muscle, of Milanese deep house fame.

Southside Shuffle... Pete Dafeet
NO RETURN EP
Kahua Music
Southside Shuffle is the love child of Lost My Dog head honcho Pete Dafeet who kicks us off with four new tracks filled with old school flavour and deep melodic vibes. In No Return, crunchy beats and rhythmic cowbells underpin a dirty warehouse groove with more than a nod to Detroit. Cloakroom Queue is a funky bouncer full of old school bits and bobs over a wicked groove, while Pete takes it deeper with the last two tracks: Footprints is subterranean deep house with subtle touches of acid and analogue warmth throughout, whilst Green Mirror unites warm Rhodes and spoken word for a wholly cosmic groove, man.

Leon Louder
Cabin Fever EP
Imprint
Montreal based producer Leon Louder has been making house records since 2003. He sees himself as part of a growing number of new-school house producers who are combining the technical sophistication and trickery of 21st century dance music with the unpretentious flow and soul of mid nineties Chicago house. The remix comes from good friends of Imprint, Manchester based FraidSo who have impressed with releases and remixes for Greenhouse, Tastie Music, Streetlight and Lost My Dog.

Jinkzilla feat. Zodiak
Man Up
Jinks Inc
Those party rockin’ boys from London ‘The Jinks’ are back again with this massive vocal bomb titled “Man Up”. This ruff and rugged track captures the guys unique sound that has seen the guys rise up very rapidly to the dizzy heights of todays House scene and become one of the most sought production outfits. Jinkzilla is a more experiemental and twisted musical project from the West London’s ebullient collective treading a darker and more minimal, raw path, this debut single “Man Up” is boosted even further by a corking minimal Tiger Stripes Remix. Already rocking tastemaker dancefloors and radio shows, this deep throbber hits UK promo ahead of its late February release on their own Jinks Inc label.

Musical Solution pres. BPM
Dance With Me
Look At You
LAY return to the funk and kick 2008 off in fine style by giving you "Dance With Me".  Fabrizio Marra and Paul Wiltshire are the men behind this delicious slice of groovy house with John Mateo (Mateo & Matos) adding a wonderful hypnotic remix that features a wicked bassline. Last but not least, newcomer and certainly a producer to watch out for Tony Loreto who has been wowing everyone with his remixes of Leela James & Sting and Alicia Keys who delivers a string laden peak hour jam that rocks it just right!.

Figurines
The Air We Breathe
Strange Feeling Records
Copenhagen's wonderful Figurines crash into 2008 with their brand new album 'When The Deer Wore Blue' (the follow-up to last year's 5-star 'Skeleton') on Buzzin' Fly's sister imprint, Strange Feeling Records, next month. Of course for me being a dance music freak the mix I like on this release is the ‘Prins Thomas Disco Mix’ which turns this wonderful single from the Figurines into an  indie/dance masterpiece capturing a rather emotive feeling that has me hook line and sinker! The instrumentation and vocal harmonies are so very uplifting and I just keep listening to it over and over! Another of Ben Watt’s labels making waves and presenting great sounding music for pure pleasure.!

Mark Lewis feat. Angeles
Ultra Sexy (Janvan Lier Touch Mix)
Black Liquid Music
My pic for this release is the ‘Janvan Lier Touch Mix’ with it’s techno style and repetitive plodding production sound that loops the elements over and over again a simple yet effect style that makes this track work so well! I no major fan of this style of music but I simply love this track!. I can see this pleasing many dance floors with the deep bass sound and the filtered vocal that lifts the track up and makes it extremely addictive to hear..

Kemistry
City Slang EP
NRK Music
Kemistry, AKA Soy Mustafa and Alex Cellar, are relatively new names on the circuit, but on the strength of this two track EP, expect to hear a lot more from these fellas in the future. This, their debut EP for NRK, will appeal to fans of the deeper house sound. “Snakebite”’ is a haunting and mesmerising deep house cut, nice looping percussion, breathy vocals, melodic keys and Detroit-esque strings stab incessantly, building all the while to create a track really showing its American and European house influences.  “City Slang” is a punchier house track, it’s melodious riff bubbling under and over whilst some 909 drums (sounding almost like Plastikman’s “Spastik”) weave through the track.

Hot Lizard
The Theme
NRK Music
Originally released in 1995, Hot Lizard's "The Theme" became a benchmark release on the mid-90s deep house scene, beefed up by remixes from Detroit's Carl Craig, Charles Webster (under his Love From San Francisco guise) and Mark Broom. This NRK Music re-release includes two brand new remixes from original producer Charles Webster, and the original Carl Craig remix. Webster’s “Version” remix sees him collaborate with fellow Nottingham producer Atjazz, and together they weigh in with a fantastic punchy remix, with haunting live flutes, metallic stabs and shimmering electronics. Very much the sound of now, sophisticated deep house with traditional techno influences. Webster goes solo for his Charles Webster 2008 remix, stripping things right back for a delicate and brooding house production, getting its warmth from the haunting chords.

Buzzin' Fly
Vol 4 Remixes pt2
Buzzin' Fly
Following on from the summer's Christian Prommer and Spencer Parker remixes, Buzzin’ Fly bring you more reworks of original tracks taken from their recent mix compilation, Buzzin' Fly Vol 4. My pick on this release is the beautiful sound of  Kimouts - Down To Earth (Original Mix). The strings are so captivating as they creating a warm sensual vibe thoughout the track..

Kemal & Halo
Lift Me Up
MN2S
MN2S wrap up their 2007 release schedule in major style. Celebrating their 50th release, they present the latest collaboration between Halo and Kemal. Featuring their trademark production standards and a magnificent vocal performance from the legendary Arnold Jarvis, ‘Lift Me Up’ is set to make some waves through into 2008.   Following up from their previous ‘Origins EP’ on MN2S, Halo and Kemal deliver another killer deep house cut. Combining a subtle bassline and rolling synth stabs with an emotive vocal, ‘Lift Me Up’ is a track with immediate and devastating effect. Compromising of the perfectly delivered Main Mix, a slightly darker, spacey Dub Mix and the heavy Mainstrumental and Dubstrumental mixes; ‘Lift Me Up’ is strong package. Halo, Kemal and Arnold Jarvis, undoubtedly, make some team!!

Spirit Catcher
Brain Candy
NRK Music
Belgium producers Jean Vanesse and Thomas Sohet AKA Spirit Catcher really need no introduction, suffice to say that releases on many well known labels. For this release they hit us with two classy electronic tracks “Brain Candy” & Loving System” both are thumping melodic masterpieces uniquely moulded to energize the club and drive up the mood! Nice deep energetic cuts from NRK.

Copy/Pase
Caravan EP
Conya Records
Just at the end of 2007 Conya Records promo’ed this fine quality electronic release from the heart of russia.  Two members of the famous Luckystars straight outta moscow, deliver this 4 tracker. Caravan 2 brings the jazz evergreen into the year 2008. Pure dancefloor madness guaranteed.  With 333 there is another dancefloor rocket on board, while Thai Massage & OKNO go down the relaxing and twisted road.

Deep Factor Feat Carroll Thompson
Friend Of Mine (Scott Wozniak Remixes)
Since it's release in 2007 'Friend Of Mine' has received heavy rotation across the globe so here it is back with a brand new set of mixes from man of the moment NY producer Scott Wozniak who’s production brings a lush, deep, electronic feel to the mix. Sublime strings wrap around the timeless vocals of Carroll Thompson adding a real sense of drama to the track, perfect for those late nights and early mornings!

Ross Couch
The Showstppa' EP
Body Rhythm Records
Body Rhythm give us another high quality EP from Ross Couch with three super charged tracks. 'Showstoppa' turns heads right away with it's distinctive blend of big band brass stabs and filtered 303 riffs reminiscent of Hardfloor in their prime. 'Rhythm Is Our Business' is another gem which again shows Ross' love of taking sounds and ideas from early 1900's Jazz and blasting them onto the 21st Century dancefloor. The vocal samples are full of olden day charm and sit perfectly with the bleeps, beats and bass to create another track that's sure to stand out from the crowd. Finally 'The Look In Her Eyes' ventur.s into the deeper side of Ross' sound which has won him a lot of fans over the years. With a strong melodic content, big strings and techy stabs this is another timeless track not to be missed.
